Lion's Head Manor is a model of my dream home. I would like to share my home with the world of
miniatures. I've spent the last four years working on my home finding it to be challenging at times, but
always extremely rewarding. I hope you enjoy viewing the pictures displayed within this website as much
as I have enjoyed putting this project together.

The whole idea of building a dollhouse started off with this need to create something with my own hands.
I've always loved woodworking but I was missing the proper environment to be able to create the things I
so desired.

It happened one day while walking to the doctor's office, I stumbled upon a miniature shop and suddenly
a whole new world opened up before my eyes. Suddenly I could see endless opportunities I never had
before. I could build the house of my dreams and furnish it with all of my favourite pieces.

I remember entering the store for the very first time. I felt a little uncomfortable because I was not sure it
was a guy thing to do, but the storeowner made me feel very comfortable very quickly. I went back to the
store many times to get answers to all my questions, and received far more information than I was ever
expecting. The owners proved to be very helpful and extremely indispensable in helping me solve the
many problems that suddenly popped up with the many new things I was discovering.

After about a month I finally sat down to take into serious consideration the floor plan I would use for my
project. I had decided to create something small for the first time. But, as was expected of myself it soon
turned into a large project. I wanted to be sure that I had plenty of room to experiment with the many things
I wanted to create.

I had decided from the start that the house I would build would be a Georgian house and that it would
have a mixture of both the best of the European and American designs (at least the things I like the best).
I wanted a mixture of large and small rooms, and I wanted my staircase to be a little more elaborate than
the average dollhouse. I decided that the stairwell would be in the hallway, which would be located in the
centre of the house (see layout).

Finally after six months of changing my mind, I finally came up with the perfect design. It would be a
rectangle in shape with three rooms per floor. The attic would have two rooms. The original exterior
details were far more elaborate than the actual finished project, which had columns running on the front
and backside of the house. The columns had all been prepared and made ready for application; than it hit
me, the house looked far better without the columns covering up much of the brick work.

A solarium was a much later addition to the house and does not appear on any of my designs. I just
thought it would be nice to have a sitting area full of flowers. The original ceiling was made up of
three-barrel vaults covered in clouds. The new ceiling will be made of stained glass (a new hobby of
mine), which I hope will be just as beautiful as the original. Beneath the solarium is the covered terrace
with a stone barbecue.

Even later then the solarium came the railings along the roof line which stood bare for many years after
the initial construction took place. But finally, one day while browsing through my books on Georgian
Architecture; the idea hit me, "I will create an elaborate railing to crown my home". The roof line finally
looked complete.
Three King's
I designed "The Three Kings" as a small French or English
summer castle. The final result been one that has
undergone several renovations over the centuries. I decided
to make this a two level castle with rooftop terrace and
solarium. The house contains the following rooms: On the
main floor we have the "Main Entrance", "Kitchen", "Living
Room" or "Great Room", and the "Dining Room". As you
make your way up the stairs you
come upon the "Study" or "Nursery", and continuing to the second floor we find the "Hall", "Bathroom",
Master Bedroom", and the "2nd Bedroom" and then up the stairs to the "Rooftop Terrace" were you
have the entrance to the "Solarium". All of the stained glass windows in the solarium are made of real
lead glass as are the half arch on the second floor windows. These were made by Susan Celentano
who's products can be purchased through "The Little Dollhouse Company" in Toronto, Canada. For

Kings".
Room Box - Dining Room
Here we have what I named the "Dining Room", but it's not
limited to that use. Could be used as an office or small
parlour. The walls are painted in a mustard yellow, white trim
with gilded details. The fireplace is painted in a glossy black
with gilded highlights. The brick is real and the base is a
white stone. The floor is rather elaborate and colourful. The
ceiling is painted with the same mustard colour with
white beams and gilded details. The ceiling contains two recessed lights. There is also a small
terrace on the left side of the box. The dimensions are as follows: 21"L x 17"D x 18"H. The exterior is
covered in oak veneer with lock and key.
Room Box - Living Room
I named this Room Box the "Green Room" since it could be
decorated in many ways, such as a Living Room, Music
Room, Library, Dining Room, etc. The room is painted in two
tones of green with white trim with gold detailing. The
fireplace is made of real brick and white stone as the base.
The floor is made of oak and walnut
with a simple pattern. There are three recessed lights on the ceiling to add the perfect touch of light.
The exterior case is made of oak veneer with a lock and key. The overall dimensions are 21"L x 17"D x
18"H. Still missing is the picture placed on the back panel of the box looking to the outdoors.
Castle House
This house is very similar to "The Three King's"
in layout except for a few minor changes. I
decided to re-work the left side wall which
touches the kitchen, and study. The exterior is
finished with a more evenly cut stone (painting
still in progress in this picture) with decorative
stone elements along the roof line. The dormer
windows are finished with a faux decorative
copper finish slightly aged. I've added an extra
dormer in the washroom as well. The roof on
this house is almost entirely flat so the space
can be used as a roof-top patio except for the
master bedroom which still has the domed
ceiling. The staircase in this house is circular
instead of square, and I've added many more
stained glass windows, with some in 3D, all
made by Susan Celentano. I had to build the
supports for all the exterior light fixtures in
brass, painted black. The front exterior stairs
are not as complex as with the Three King's.

I decided to create a double sided Victorian
Storefront.  From one side you have a view of
the street, and the other side gives you a view of
the inside of the store.  The exterior is finished
with mahogany veneer, with solid mahogany
trim.
Bombay Display Case
Secret Garden
I discovered this display case while browsing
through a thrift shop with a friend and thought it
would make an interesting Room Box.  I've
currently torn the table to pieces, stripped it
down.  I will be making the case section a little
higher to make it a little more appropriate.
