Around 1996 I stumbled upon a miniature shop called “The Daisy House”. The store opened up a whole new world to me. I spent a lot of time asking questions and letting my mind run wild with ideas realizing that the possibilities were truly endless.
I soon began designing my first project, “Lion’s Head Manor”. This house kept me busy for several years. I changed my original design several times over until I was satisfied with the final result.
I also built several pieces of furniture, but my true passion is architecture so designing and building a house is always a lot more fun. I really enjoy designing my projects from scratch since I'm not much of a kit person and I have been able watch something I design come to life which gives me a lot more personal satisfaction.

My name is Alberto Gozzi. I started working with wood shortly after moving to Italy in 1980. My father had been building homes in Canada for some time so woodworking kind of runs in the family. I began building furniture and working on home interiors with my father for several years. I have to admit that when I first started I had a bit of a hard time finding any interest in woodworking, but after a short period of time it was in my blood and I could hardly do without. I moved back to Canada in 1991, and besides the odd project you could say I stopped working with wood for several years. I began picking up the pace when I moved to Toronto and did some furniture restoration for some of the antique stores which helped to fill that certain emptiness. Around 1995 I started to get a stronger urge to get back into woodworking on a more personal level where I could be a little more creative and doing what I really wanted to do. |
